OTHER SIG EVENTS 2025

HYBRIDISING DAY 31st May 2025

Come along and learn how to hybridise your own iris .

It’s easy once you know how!

Starts at 1.30 at Roughlands Farm Goudhurst Road TN12 9NH

There will be an introductory talk ,how to identify plants suitable and set aims for hybridising with award winning hybridisers. Then a tea and cake break before you can try to hybridise your own iris .Members can attend free of charge Non members £7.00 or join SIG on the day for £5.

The hybridising day was a great success ,led by Brian Hersey, a well renowned hybridiser.

We had new members and everyone got to try their hand at hybridising on the understanding that if a seed pod forms ,it will be sent onto them for growth. Who knows what will grow !

We hope to hold another session next year during flowering season as we had lots of positive feedback and everyone enjoyed themselves.

Garden trip to Ightham Mote Sevenoaks Kent /Scotney Castle in May/June

Both feature iris hybridised by current members of the group.

Garden trip to Wakehurst Place and guided tour of ensatas in July .

Due to the eraly flowering season of the iris this year these events have not taken place but we hope to arrange them for next year during iris flowering season.
